Preparing for a successful adult life involves examining which living and employment situations best fit a person's skills, desires and needs. Some adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are able to live independently and work successfully in mainstream jobs. Others may need the structured environment of a sheltered workshop and/or a more supervised living situation.
The resources in this section are designed to help parents, caregivers and people with ASD explore options and opportunities for independent living, employment and empowerment through self-advocacy. Resources for employers interested in working with individuals with ASD are also included.
