Admission, review & dismissal

For students receiving special education services in Texas, decisions regarding which services and special provisions will be made available are determined by the admission, review and dismissal (ARD) committee at the student's school. This section of the website is designed to give parents and caregivers basic information about the ARD process, how to participate in it and what to expect.

Resources

  • The Texas Education Agency publishes a "Guide to the Admission, Review and Dismissal Process" ( PDF format).
  • Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District provides graphics, answers to frequently asked questions and other resources related to the ARD process.
  • Texas Project FIRST presents the ARD Committee Meeting Agenda, a tool that lists the topics that must be addressed by the ARD committee as required by law.
