ASD research

As autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has become more prevalent, and people more aware of its implications for society, many individuals, families and professionals want to learn more about the condition. Some of the important questions they ask are:

  • What are the possible causes of ASD?
  • What are the neurological differences that underlie its symptoms?
  • Which treatments are effective in improving skills and behaviors that lead to richer lives for people with ASD?

A growing base of strong scientific research is providing more answers to questions people have about ASD and the best treatments to pursue.

This section of the website focuses on current scientific findings on ASD and ongoing research. Information on ASD research is available from many credible sources, including online publications, research programs at Texas universities, governmental and nonprofit organizations that focus on research, and professional journals that publish research studies. By selecting from the resources featured in this section, you can learn about the substantial and diverse research being conducted in the field of ASD.
