About the Consortium
The Texas Autism Research & Resource Center (TARRC) Consortium is a group of people and organizations with a special interest in autism services and research in Texas. The Consortium includes:
- nationally-recognized researchers;
- administrators of university-based autism programs;
- autism specialists working in education service centers;
- staff from the state agencies who develop and manage autism programs in Texas; and
- individuals representing organizations that serve and advocate for people with autism and their families.
Formed in the fall of 2009 to help plan for TARRC, the Consortium today plays a fundamental role in the Center's initiatives and ongoing development. Its members are active and engaged, and they volunteer their time to discuss current and future TARRC activities. Among the services they provide to the state of Texas, Consortium members:
- share information on autism research, services and local community needs, creating a new statewide network for autism concerns and topics;
- offer input and guidance on TARRC website content;
- provide experience and expertise desired to help inform TARRC-related decisions;
- devise and design projects, including research studies, that further the Center's work and goals;
- bring data-driven, science-based best practices to the forefront; and
- assist DADS in developing the Center's functions.
The Consortium is a key advisor to TARRC and, ultimately, a resource for all Texans living with autism spectrum disorder. DADS gratefully acknowledges the following organizations whose staff participate in the TARRC Consortium:
