Providers of training in the administration of HCSSA

This web page lists providers that offer home health, hospice and personal assistance services agency training courses for new Home and Community Support Servcies Agencies (HCSSA) administrators and alternate administrators. Training may be provided or produced by:

• an academic institution;
• a recognized state or national organization or association;
• an independent contractor who consults with agencies; or
• an agency.

First time administrators and alternate administrators designated after Dec. 1, 2006, must complete eight clock hours of educational training in the administration of an agency specific to the topics at 40 TAC §97.259(c). The initial eight clock hours must be completed during the 12 months immediately preceding the date of designation as an administrator or alternate.

First time administrators and alternate administrators must also complete 16 additional clock hours of educational training before the end of the first 12 months after assignment to the position. Any of the 16 additional clock hours may be completed prior to the administrator's assignment if the hours are completed during the 12 months immediately preceding the date of assignment to the position.

Providers can meet the requirements to be listed on this web page as approved providers of education for first time administrators and alternates via one of two ways:

1. Ask the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) Regulatory Services division Policy, Rules, and Curriculum Development unit to review the curriculum to determine if it meets the standards per Texas Administrative Code (TAC), Title 40, Part 1, Chapter 97. DADS staff members review curriculums to ensure that they adhere to the standards in 40 TAC §97.259 relating to the Initial Educational Training in Administration of Agencies and 40 TAC §97.260 relating to Continuing Education in Administration of Agencies.

2. An agency or independent contractor may ask a recognized state or national organization or association to approve their curriculum.

The list of providers below indicates that DADS' staff reviewed and determined the curriculum met the standards per TAC or an association reviewed and approved the curriculum.

It remains the responsibility of the individual seeking training in these areas to complete training that is in full compliance with 40 TAC §97.259 and 40 TAC §97.260.
