OASIS Training — Course Descriptions

OASIS For Administrators

This course covers the following Home Health Conditions of Participation:

  • §42 CFR 484.55 (Comprehensive Assessment)
  • §42 CFR 484.10 (Patient Rights)
  • §42 CFR 484.11 (Release of Patient Identifiable OASIS Information)
  • §42 CFR 484.20 (OASIS Reporting) Note: this class covers the regulatory aspects of OASIS reporting.  The computer based training (CBT) "OASIS Reporting" provided below covers the technical aspects of the OASIS Reporting regulation.

Credit for Administrators and Alternate Administrators

After completion of the OASIS for Administrators Class, a certificate will be awarded for 6 clock hours of training for administrators and alternate administrators who request the certificate. Please review 40 TAC §97.259 in its entirety to ensure that you meet the regulatory requirements related to training for the administrator and alternate administrator. Please note that this certificate applies only to administrators and alternate administrators at Medicare-certified home health agencies and at licensed home health agencies seeking Medicare certification.

Coming Soon! OASIS for Clinicians

This course will be designed for clinicians who are responsible for OASIS data collection.

It will cover the most recent CMS guidance for OASIS data collection.

This curriculum is currently under development.

OASIS Reporting computer based training (CBT)

This course covers the Medicare Condition of Participation §42 CFR 484.20 (Reporting OASIS Information).

To ensure that Home Health Agencies or Agencies seeking approval under Medicare comply with OASIS Reporting requirements, DADS has created a computer based training for 42 CFR 484.20 (Reporting OASIS Information) training.

Who should take the online OASIS Reporting CBT?

  • Administrators and Alternate Administrators of Medicare-approved Home Health Agencies or Agencies seeking approval under Medicare.
  • Agency staff or contractors responsible for data entering or submitting OASIS data.
  • Agency staff or contractors responsible for reviewing and evaluating Initial Validation and Final Validation Reports.
  • Agency staff or contractors responsible for making corrections to OASIS assessment data submitted to the State.

How long will it take to complete the CBT?

The OASIS Reporting CBT will take approximately 1 hour to complete. You may take as long as you like to complete the CBT and you may review individual modules at any time.

Credit for Administrators and Alternate Administrators

A certificate will not be awarded for completing the CBT OASIS Reporting training and will not provide credit for Administrators and Alternate Administrator as required by 40 TAC §97.259.
