Annual mandatory training for ALFs

The creation of this course was required by House Bill (HB) 2109, 82nd Legislature, Regular Session, 2011, which amended Texas Health and Safety Code (HSC), Chapter 247.

The purpose of this course is to provide guidance to assisted living facility (ALF) staff members and Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) ALF surveyors in aging in place and retaliation. As required by HB 2109, the following individuals must successfully complete this course annually:

  • ALF managers
  • DADS ALF surveyors
  • DADS ALF program managers

To document successful course completion, participants must print a copy of the course certificate available at the end of the training and maintain the certificate for documentation purposes.
