Jon Weizenbaum, Commissioner
Jon Weizenbaum was named commissioner for the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) in October 2012.
Weizenbaum joined DADS in 2004 as the director for the Center for Policy and Innovation, where he was responsible for overseeing policy development and oversight, quality assurance and improvement. He was the DADS deputy commissioner from May 2006 until being named commissioner.
Before coming to DADS, Weizenbaum was the director for Communications and Governmental Relations for the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse (TCADA).
Since 1985, he has acquired a range of experience in the health and human services arena. Before moving to TCADA in 2002, Weizenbaum was the legislative policy director for the Texas Senate Committee on Health and Human Service, specializing in aging and disability services.
He holds master's degrees from the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work and the LBJ School of Public Affairs.
