Medicaid health and long-term care services
The way you get Medicaid services depends on where you live in Texas and what kind of health issues you have. In most parts of the state you get services through one of the following Medicaid networks:

Primary Care Case Management (PCCM)
PCCM mainly serves children, families with low income, pregnant women, and adults with medical or physical disabilities who don’t have Medicare.
If you are in PCCM, you get most of your health care from one main doctor, nurse, or clinic. You can also get extra help finding specialists and services. Your long-term care services are provided through Traditional Medicaid or the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS).

STAR
The STAR program mainly serves children, families with low income, and pregnant women. You get services through a health plan (also called a health maintenance organization or HMO). You pick the health plan that meets your needs the best. Your long-term care is provided through Traditional Medicaid or the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS).

STAR+PLUS
STAR+PLUS offers health care for people who have Medicaid. It also provides long-term care services for people who are elderly, have a long-lasting illness, or have a disability.
Some people in STAR+PLUS get both Medicare and Medicaid. They get regular health care through Medicare and long-term care services through Medicaid.
In STAR+PLUS, Your long-term care services are provided through a health plan (also called a health maintenance organization or HMO). You pick the health plan that meets your needs the best.

Traditional Medicaid
You get Traditional Medicaid if you are not in a PCCM, STAR, or STAR+PLUS network.Your long-term care services are provided through the Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS).
